After last year's fiasco we're headed back to "the other ballroom" in North Wilmington! With some proper planning Frank, Xavier, Chefs Patrick D'Amico and Leo Banks along with their talented culinary staff at Harry's Savoy Ballroom have orchestrated an evening of bold & explosive flavors to be married to the 150+ of in-your-face lip-smacking wines!

Live jazzy sounds and upbeat reggae will fill areas of the ballroom and tented patio... jamonit!! You'll be welcomed with bubbly poured from sliced bottles being sabered by Frank's Champagne sword... swooosh!! The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a deep, intense wine laced with black cherries, minerals, crushed flowers, and violets. This shows superb polish and elegance all the way through to the textured, expansive finish. La Rasina’s Brunello is one of the more opulent wines of the vintage but all of the elements come together quite nicely, especially with some time in the glass. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022.

About The Winery
There are fewer and fewer of them, but this estate is still a true Montalcino born, family run estate. La Rasina was founded in the early 1970's by the grandfather of the Mantengoli family, Santi. Later managed by Vasco, his son, and now by Marco, his grandson, the estate shows the dedication and excellence of an endeavor kept in the hands of one hardworking family over many years. Recent recognition given to Marco Mantengoli at La Rasina included top ratings and awards at literally every wine review published on Brunello.

Background

François and Sylvia Cornut are in charge here as

proprietors. Located in the Costières de Nîmes appellation,

François and Sylvia grow both beautiful grapes, and incredible fruit

(apricots & cherries), in the area where the Provence, Rhône and

Languedoc regions all meet around the mouth of the Rhône River.

All work is done by hand with great care and skill, and their wines

reflect the authentic Provençal setting.

This is the first example of Pure Syrah fruit from this cherished

domaine. This is a severe selection, using only the finest Syrah

from the vineyards to create this wine. The wine is vinified in 100%

new casks for 1 year’s time. The result is a richly extracted, jammy

and powerful wine that is packed with intense black fruit that is inky,

thick and über-concentrated. Sadly only a few hundred cases were

made.

"Much better is the ambitious, seriously endowed 2006 Costieres

de Nimes Numa, a 100% Syrah aged in barrique. Its dark

ruby/purple hue is accompanied by notes of blackberries, licorice,

tar, and pain grille. This cuvee should evolve for 4-5 years.

Manchester Ridge Coast Mountain Vineyards are located east of
Manchester, California along the first ridge three miles inland from the
Pacific Coast at an elevation of 2,000 feet. Up to 162 acres of vineyard
can be developed on this flat top ridge that uniquely has less than a 10%
slope.

The potential wine grape quality of this location is unsurpassed along the
California coast. Coastal vineyards at these elevations receive the
highest solar quality in the northern coastal counties and the soils are of
excellent quality and water is sufficient.

Pale straw in color with exuberant aromas of lemon curd layered with
Asian pear exploding on the palate. The aromas mingle with a lush
palate of pear framed by sweet oak. This medium-bodied wine has
balanced acidity and carries a long, lemon citrus finish.

Beaujolais Primeur 2010 by Pierre Chermette of Domaine du Vissoux. The 2010 is simply delicious, bursting with juicy red fruit (ripe strawberries and cherries), and has surprising depth. Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau $12.99 ($9.99 with Sampler purchase)

This one has nice hints of strawberry and even cedar on the nose. Diving into it (not literally, of course) yields more tannic backbone holding up bright, lively flavors of cherry jam and a hint of allspice. It finishes with a slightly lingering flourish, which while not memorable, is still pleasant. This one is a nice holiday wine, especially with something like roast duck with cherry sauce.

The heady bouquet on our 2007 Selleck vineyard Pinot Noir is youthful, broad and aromatic, with

pomegranate, black cherry, rose petal, white pepper and strawberry. Deep, dense, rich flavors of

boysenberry, cassis, limestone, devil’s food cake and a streak of sweet cherry underlie the rich

mouthfeel with soft but pronounced fine-grained tannins that give us a peek into this wines very long

finest Pinot ever made by Calera. This 4.8-acre vineyard planted

compelling Pinot Noir. Sassafras, black cherry, raspberry, plum,

pomegranate, cedar, and underbrush aromas are accompanied by a

full-bodied, ripe wine with beautiful acids, an intense underlying

minerality/terroir character, and a long finish. The 2007 Selleck is

slightly less evolved than the Jensen, but it is an impressive Pinot

that should age effortlessly for 10-15+ years. Kudos to Josh Jensen

This 2007 Jensen Pinot Noir has a brilliant ruby color and an inviting, deep brooding nose of cassis

and black cherry with softly integrated oak spice. A startling streak of mid-palate sweet strawberry

fruit is accented by signature Mt. Harlan limestone graphite, cranberries and a tiny hint of vanilla. Fine

deep ruby/purple-tinged color as well as a sweet, explosive nose

wine of all these 2007 Pinots. A round, generous, intense red

that cascades over the palate with no hard edges, it is capable of

15-20 years of cellaring."

Our Reed vineyard Pinot Noir possesses the most unique flavor profile of our six single vineyard

Pinots. Graceful and delicate in structure and body, this wine effuses a plethora of characters; sweet

berry, plum and black raspberry with spicy dried fennel, rocks, herbs, briar and candied cherry in the

nose, along with essence of gingerbread, orange peel, coffee and cedar. On the palate we find broad
